10:00 Qigong for Optimal Health


Qigong for Optimal Health:  Qigong exercises reduce stress and improve the practitioners' overall health.  We will massage immune boosting acupressure poin ts, practice deep breathing for our organs and mental health, and move the body with gentle, slow meditative stretches. 

Introduction to Tai Chi. In this series you will learn the basic philosophy, movements, principles and history of Tai Chi (Taiji). 
We will start each class with a reading from a Classic Chinese Text, practice warmups for  joints and muscles and concentrate on 2 Tai Chi Forms.
1.  Yang Style Simplified: a repetitive 8 movement form
2.  Wudang Tai Chi: an elegant 18 movement form from Wudang Mtns., the birthplace of Tai Chi.

This class is good for beginners and experienced practitioners wishing to learn new forms.  Doctors recommend Tai chi for Balance, Memory and Fitness but it is also Fun!

Animals and Elements Qigong:  Each of the five Elements,—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—include categories such as a season, a direction, a stage of growth and development, internal organs, emotions, an animal, a taste, a color, a sound and more. Animal Frolics pique our imaginations work our bodies and are some of the oldest Qigong forms.
